New York Style Salsa

New York Style Salsa, also known as "Mambo," is danced "on 2." This means dancers step on the second and sixth beats of the music. This style is known for its smooth and elegant moves. It's often performed in a slot, where dancers move back and forth in a straight line. New York Style places a lot of emphasis on timing and musicality, making it a favorite for those who love dancing to the rhythm of the music.

Los Angeles Style Salsa

Los Angeles Style Salsa, or "LA Style," is danced "on 1." This means dancers step on the first and fifth beats of the music. It’s flashy and energetic, with lots of spins and dips. LA Style is also danced in a slot, but it incorporates more dramatic movements. This style features smooth, flowing movements and focuses on musicality and partner connection.

Cuban Style Salsa

Cuban Style Salsa, also known as "Casino," is danced in a circular motion. This style is very social and interactive, often danced in groups called "Rueda de Casino," where dancers swap partners in a circle. Cuban Salsa has a strong Afro-Cuban influence and features lots of body movement and improvisation. It’s ideal for those who love a lively and dance experience.

Colombian Style Salsa

Colombian Style Salsa, or "Cali Style," is known for its quick footwork and intricate steps. This style is danced to faster music and doesn’t follow the slot pattern of New York and LA Styles. Instead, dancers move in all directions, showing off their fast and fancy footwork. Colombian Salsa is perfect for those who enjoy a fast-paced and energetic dance.
